Get ready to enjoy Christmas music in a whole new way ----- John Schlitt style!

The Project

For the past few years you’ve heard me talk about making a Christmas album… the time for talking is over - THIS is the year! I’m in the process of creating a Christmas CD and I’d like you to join with me and be a part of this very special project!

To me, Christmas music is really seasonal praise music; it zeros in on the event that heralded Christ’s physical presence on earth. We glorify God all year long with our praises and with our worship, but Christmas is the time we focus specifically on the birth of Jesus Christ and what His coming to this world means for us. We celebrate His birth; the whole world acknowledges Christmas as a special time. As fallen creatures living in a sinful world, we rejoice that Jesus took on human form and lived a perfect life in an imperfect world in order to save us. What more could be worth celebrating!

The Vision
The majority of the album will consist of traditional Christmas songs done John Schlitt style - which I hope is understood to mean uplifting, worshipful, energizing, and not something you will fall asleep to! I’m also considering additional songs that would be more in the traditional praise/worship vein - songs that are relevant year-round, but will blend well with the Christmas spirit. My desire is that it will be a double-whammy type of Christmas album that will be very different - and very special.

The Reason
For one reason or another, neither Petra nor I have ever recorded anything for the Christmas season; I’ve never been involved with Christmas music except to sing a song or two on a few televised programs. This past Christmas I felt regretful about my minimal participation with holiday music, and at the same time I felt a very strong tug on my heart to “get in the Christmas spirit,” musically.

I’ve been in music for the greater part of my life… it’s what I do. I have been given a musical platform to speak from; I would now like to speak about the greatest Christmas gift of all time, and the reason we celebrate Christmas in the first place: Jesus Christ.

The Dollar Amount
Following the successful financing of my fourth solo album, “The Greater Cause,” I’m asking you to be involved in a unique way. “The Greater Cause” was funded by many of you, my new friends and supporters (Crew Members). It was a project that we made together, and I hope those who were involved felt it was a project worth supporting. Because I’m solely responsible for my own label, I’d like to call on you once again to help bring our Christmas album to life. There will be no managers, no corporations – just me and you – helping to make this new project a reality.

To make an album, including recording costs and expenses, CD design, graphics and manufacturing, etc., will take a lot more money than I could come up with on my own. The goal of $35,000 is only part of what goes into making a quality recording that lives up to the professional level you have come to expect from me.

Pledges are taken on Kickstarter’s safe, secure site, powered by Amazon’s payment services. The unique thing about Kickstarter is that after you make your pledge, your credit card will only be charged after we reach our target goal of $35,000, ensuring that you'll only be contributing toward a project that will actually happen. It also means that if we fall short of the goal I won’t receive any of the contributions. So it's all …or nothing!

The Thank You
I’m asking you to help it be “all.” The new Christmas album needs a team effort in order for this concept to come to life. Just like a seed, it takes one person to plant, many more to water – and God to shine on it and make it grow.
